Stars, Ribbons & Certificates

It's important to celebrate key milestones along a journey, and the Computational Thinking Assessment is designed to help students recognize the continuing progress that they achieve. All built from the gamification model of earning experience points, instead of grades, as students' knowledge advances they earn stars, ribbons, and even certificates that are worthy of including any college application. From students earning their very first star to achieving their Level 3, 5-Star Certificate of Excellence, the Computational Thinking Assessment will help motivate your children & students to challenge themselves and reach for the stars!

No matter what a student's incoming skill level is, its recommended that all students begin with a Level 1 Knowledge Check. This low pressure assessment is a series of multiple choice questions of increasing complex challenges. Students can choose to go as far as they'd like and can stop at any point -- then depending upon how they did on the questions they answered, the student is awarded experience points.

Earn enough experience points and students can earn their first stars, even ribbons in specific Computational Thinking Skill Areas, or even their first certificate already! Regardless of how many experience points are earned, the assessment helps give students a baseline to build from, as well as valuable information to educators on potential misconceptions or confidence issues to overall help serve your student the best that they can.

Starting Your Journey

Custom Built to Empower Success

As students progress, they'll have the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test in more Computational Thinking Assessments. Combined, the Computational Thinking Assessments' over 250 objectives span across 10 Computational Thinking skill areas. To help students of all backgrounds recognize their achievements and opportunity areas, these 250+ objectives are spread across 3 certification levels and each certification level is split into two tiers, Core and Excellence, enabling students to earn multiple meaningful milestones on their journey.

However, that journey can be uniquely tailored to fit the computer science / technology educational program that your child/students are a part of, splitting up the order in which those objectives are assessed at to match their program's curriculum. To have your educational program participate and to create a series of assessments that will work best for that program's students contact us via the link below.

Success Builds Success

There’s a saying “What gets measured gets done.” Perhaps what is most important is that in preparing for taking their next round of the assessment, students work towards developing the valuable skills measured by the assessment in challenge definition, understanding performance, turning their abstractions and data into well-tested algorithms, while communicating and working effectively with their teams

…and more as highlighted at the link below.

Furthermore, as described at the links below, as the assessment is built upon the work of numerous pre-college programs, standards, and examinations, the Computational Thinking Institute assessment typically extends into additional areas that a single program or examination may not, thereby encouraging students to enhance their understanding of the broad area of Computational Thinking. While this certainly helps students develop the mindset and ability to excel in other pre-college programs or examinations, more importantly as students are rewarded through the assessment’s achievement recognition, students feel more empowered to take on these next challenges.
